What happened in De Pere
CCS answered this basement water emergency in De Pere on April 8, 2024, and took 27 photos. The set here is from April 10.
The water reached a finished basement with a family room, a hallway and a workshop area. The carpet had been pulled, leaving the concrete bare and stained in a pattern from the pad. Around every room the bottom of the drywall had been cut away in a low, even band, exposing the bottom plates.
In one wall, the crew opened the drywall higher and pulled out wet fiberglass insulation by hand, and a plastic vapor barrier showed behind it. Air movers and a dehumidifier were set up in the rooms, and the photos go room to room and down the hallway to show the cut line all the way around. Removing the bottom band of drywall and any wet insulation is what lets a finished basement wall dry from the inside.
