What happened in Allouez
This Allouez basement got water in August 2023. The photos show a finished room with the flooring pulled back to the concrete, the bottom of the drywall cut away around the room, and the insulation and framing behind it exposed so it could dry.
Air movers were set up along the walls once the wet materials were out. The crew also photographed the outside of the foundation on that side of the house, where the block wall, the downspout and a drain line run along the ground. Water that collects against a foundation is one of the most common reasons a basement wall gets wet, so it's worth looking at the outside as well as the inside.
Cutting the drywall a couple of feet up from the floor is standard when water has wicked into the walls. It saves the rest of the wall and makes the rebuild quick.
