What happened in De Pere
This De Pere job, from September 2023, was a ceiling that had soaked through. Water from above had saturated the drywall until it sagged and started breaking apart, which is the point where it has to come down.
The photos show the wet, crumbling drywall and joint compound against the ceiling framing, the crew pulling the damaged panels, and the debris that came out. Close-ups show the soaked paper facing and stained wood, which is what the crew checks once the ceiling is open to make sure the framing can dry and doesn't need more work.
With the ceiling open, air movers and dehumidifiers can dry the joists and subfloor above. After that the space is ready for new drywall. Leaving a wet ceiling in place, even after the leak stops, almost always leads to mold on the back side of the board.
