What happened in Highland Heights

CCS answered this water emergency in the Highland Heights area of Appleton on July 26, 2024. It became a 156-photo job, and the set here is from the first day.

The water was in a finished basement room set up as a home gym, with a treadmill, a weight machine and other equipment. The crew started by extracting water from the carpet with a wand and hose, working the room in passes.

Then the carpet was cut and rolled up and the pad pulled out, leaving the concrete slab bare with the tack strip still along the walls. Patches of wet pad were left on the floor in places as the crew worked around the heavy equipment. In a basement, carpet pad soaks up water like a sponge and rarely dries in place, so pulling it out on the first day is usually the faster and cleaner choice.

Work performed

  • Water emergency response
  • Water extraction from the carpet
  • Carpet cut, rolled and removed
  • Wet pad pulled from the slab

“My husband and I noticed mold on a couple of different spots on a baseboard and outlet plugs that were below some windows. We remembered having a great experience from a few years back with Mike Wotruba at CCS about an issue we had going on in our basement, so we gave him a call right away.”

“We recently had our roof done and I wanted a second pair of eyes to ensure no mold was present due to having leaks for some time. Mike Wotruba showed up thankfully after roofing rescheduled twice and he was so accommodating. Super helpful with questions and went above and beyond for me.”

Water damage questions, answered

Does CCS Property Services do water damage in Appleton?

Yes. This project was in Highland Heights, Appleton, WI 54914, and our crews work throughout Appleton and the surrounding area. Our Green Bay office is about 20 miles away. This is one of 13 water damage projects we've published from Appleton. Phones are answered 24/7 for emergencies.

What should I do in the first hour after a water leak?

Shut off the water at the main valve if you can, and turn off power to any wet area if it's safe to reach the panel. Move valuables and furniture off wet floors, take photos for insurance, and call a restoration company. Don't use a household vacuum on standing water.

How fast can CCS get to my home?

Phones are answered 24/7. In most cases we can have a crew on site within about an hour of your call for active water emergencies in the Green Bay area.

Does homeowners insurance cover water damage in Wisconsin?

Most policies cover sudden and accidental water damage, like a burst pipe or an appliance failure. Damage from long-term leaks or neglect usually isn't covered, and flooding from surface water typically needs separate flood coverage. Sump pump backup is often an add-on endorsement. We document the loss and work directly with your adjuster.

How long does it take to dry out a flooded basement?

Most structures dry in three to five days with professional equipment, depending on how much water there was, what materials got wet and the weather. We check moisture readings daily and only pull equipment when readings confirm it's dry.

Will I get mold after water damage?

Mold can start growing within 24 to 48 hours on wet drywall, wood and carpet. Fast extraction and drying is what prevents it, which is why we treat water damage as an emergency.

Do you handle the repairs too?

Yes. We dry out the structure and then rebuild what was removed, so you deal with one company from the first call to the finished room.
