What happened in Hobart
This Hobart basement had water come in during April 2023, in a space that was full of stored belongings. Before the floor and walls could be dried, the contents had to be dealt with.
The photos show the storage areas, the shelving and boxes that sat on the concrete, and the paneled rooms of the finished basement once things were moved. The crew sorted what could be saved, moved it away from the wet areas and cleared the floor so the concrete and the base of the wood paneling could dry. The last photos show the basement rooms and stairway after cleanup.
A packed basement makes water damage worse, because boxes on the floor soak up water and hide wet spots. If your basement takes on water, getting things up off the floor fast makes a big difference in what can be saved.
