What happened in Green Bay
CCS inspected this attic in Green Bay on March 5, 2024, as a free mold assessment, and documented it with 17 photos. The owner received a written estimate for remediation.
The attic is framed with wood trusses under an OSB roof deck, with white blown-in insulation on the floor and a black duct running across it. The roof deck is stained dark in many of the bays, heaviest in the middle of the slopes. One bay holds a powered roof vent fan, and the deck around it is stained black in a streak running down from the fan.
The last photos look up at the peak, where the trusses meet at metal plates, and down the length of the attic. A powered roof vent can pull conditioned air up out of the house through gaps in the ceiling if the attic does not have enough intake vents at the eaves, which brings moisture into the attic instead of removing it.
