What happened in Manitowoc

CCS handled this mold remediation job in Manitowoc on March 1, 2024, and took 30 photos that day.

The work was in a basement where drywall had been put up over wood framing and fiberglass insulation. A removed piece of drywall showed mold growing in a streak up its back side. With the drywall off, the bays behind it held damp, matted insulation, and the crew pulled it out by hand. The bottom plates and the concrete under them were covered in dust and debris from the tear-out.

Once the bays were open to the foundation wall, a gloved crew member treated the framing, the plates and the concrete with a spray bottle, bay by bay. The photos then follow the walls and the hallway with a fogger. Drywall and insulation that get wet in a basement rarely dry on their own, so removing them is usually the only way to stop the mold.

Work performed

  • Mold remediation
  • Moldy drywall removed
  • Wet insulation pulled from the wall bays

  • Fogging in the basement

β€œMy husband and I noticed mold on a couple of different spots on a baseboard and outlet plugs that were below some windows. We remembered having a great experience from a few years back with Mike Wotruba at CCS about an issue we had going on in our basement, so we gave him a call right away.”

β€œWe recently had our roof done and I wanted a second pair of eyes to ensure no mold was present due to having leaks for some time. Mike Wotruba showed up thankfully after roofing rescheduled twice and he was so accommodating. Super helpful with questions and went above and beyond for me.”

β€œCCS Property Services has been hands down the best company we’ve ever worked with in relation to our house, and certainly the most important. We called when we had a pipe leak in our home, noticing that we had a soggy wall.”

β€œCCS was amazing to work with. Our dishwasher broke and leaked into the ceiling and walls of our newly remodeled basement. We got fans on it right away to dry out as best we could. We wanted to know if there was any mold or permanent water damage.”

Mold remediation questions, answered

Does CCS Property Services do mold remediation in Manitowoc?

Yes. This project was in Manitowoc, WI 54220, and our crews work throughout Manitowoc and the surrounding area. Our Green Bay office is about 31 miles away. This is one of 5 mold remediation projects we've published from Manitowoc. Assessments are free.

How fast can someone come out to Manitowoc?

We schedule assessments as quickly as we can, with priority for active leaks and deadlines like a home sale closing. Request a call back above or call (920) 435-2288.

Is the mold assessment free?

Yes. We inspect the area, look for the moisture source and explain what we find. You only pay if you choose to move forward with remediation.

What's the difference between mold removal and mold remediation?

Removal means cleaning off visible mold. Remediation is the full process: containment, removing damaged materials, cleaning, treating and fixing the moisture that caused it. Removal alone often leads to the mold coming back.

How much does mold remediation cost?

It depends on the size of the area, what's growing on (drywall, wood framing, insulation) and access. A small bathroom or window area costs far less than a full basement or attic. You get a written price after the free assessment.

Does insurance cover mold remediation?

Often it does when the mold comes from a sudden covered event, like a burst pipe or appliance leak. Mold from long-term humidity or slow leaks usually isn't covered. We'll tell you which it looks like and work with your adjuster if you file a claim.

Can I stay in my home during mold remediation?

Usually, yes. We seal off the work area and run HEPA filtration so spores don't spread. If a space needs to be off-limits, we'll tell you before we start.

Will the mold come back?

Not if the moisture is fixed. Every job starts by finding the source, whether it's a leak, poor ventilation or high humidity, and that fix is part of the plan.

Is black mold dangerous?

Any mold growing indoors should be taken seriously, especially for people with allergies, asthma or weakened immune systems. The color doesn't tell you how harmful it is. Large areas (more than about 10 square feet) should be handled by professionals, per EPA guidance.
