What happened in Stevens Hill
CCS inspected this home in the Stevens Hill area of Sturgeon Bay on November 3, 2025, as a free mold assessment, and documented it with 12 photos. The owner received a written estimate for remediation.
The house is older, with plaster walls and ceilings on wood lath. In a small closet and the corner of a room, the ceiling had been opened, exposing broken plaster, the metal lath behind it and the wood framing above. The wood in the opening was dark and rotted in places, and the plaster edges were stained. One wall corner had a long brown water stain running down from the ceiling to the floor.
The photos also cover a room with block walls and a stained floor. Dark, soft wood above a plaster ceiling usually means water has been getting in from above for a long time, often from a roof or flashing leak at the edge of the roof.
