What happened in Historic Central
CCS inspected this Appleton home, in the Historic Central neighborhood, on July 23, 2026, as a free mold assessment, and documented it with 33 photos. The owner received a written estimate for remediation.
Under the house, a shallow crawl space with a gravel floor sits beneath old board subfloor and wood beams. The wood showed heavy dark mold growth, water staining and cobwebs across the beams and the underside of the floor, and the crew took moisture meter readings on the framing. The first photos show exposed board ceiling framing elsewhere in the home.
A crawl space without a vapor barrier can hold enough ground moisture to keep the wood above damp all year.
